Scout Report: Odsonne Edouard
Hey Everyone! Today’s scout report is on Odsonne Edouard as he is a potential Lacazette replacement that is heavily linked with Arsenal. This thread will give you the tactical insight you need to know who he is and what he can bring to the club!
Current Ability: 8/10
Potential Ability: 9.5/10

(10 being a World Class Player)
To get the best idea of who Edouard is as a player I watched 6 different games. 3 of which he got a match rating of 6.82 or below with no g/a involvement and 3 of which he finished with above a 7.72 match rating and had at least one g/a involvement.
Of all the people I have done a scout report on, I can firmly say that Edouard is definitely the most complete player of them all. At 22 years old the striker got himself 46 G/A in 42 apps. Specifically, 27 goals and 19 assists. These are astronomical numbers for someone his age!
This heat map analyzes Edouard’s movement with the white dot being his starting position. The analysis shows that Edouard constantly drifts out left to get into attacking positions. Note that he doesn’t spend too much time inside the box 1/2
But instead drops deeper into the left area to collect the ball and shoot, run at defenders, or cross balls into the box. Edouard often cuts inside on his preferred right foot when going for a shot. 2/2
For me, Odsonne’s biggest strength has to be his goal scoring ability. Per 90 he takes on average 3.06 shots and hits the target 43% of the time. In total Edouard has scored 40% of his 70 shots on target from 161 shots!
This, however, should not distract you from his creativity as Edouard has 19 assists this season. On average he attempts 2 passes into the box per game completing 64% of them. The graph exhibits Edouards assists per match day compared to his expected assists (xA).
With Edouard having so many strengths, I would say that his biggest weakness comes from his lack of communication. Edouard makes multiple runs per 90 that sometimes go unnoticed by his team because he doesn’t communicate. Furthermore, Edouard struggles to stay onside 1/2
Averaging about 1.5 offsides per 90 in the Europa league. This lack of communication and onside runs are things that will only improve with time. More game time and more experience breeds confidence and with the right team, Odsonne can turn these stats around. 2/2

Final Verdict: Odsonne Edouard is 100% ready to take on a bigger challenge and with 2 years left on his contract and a market value of €13.50m a move to the PL might come sooner rather than later for the French man. 1/n
Personally I would absolutely love to see him playing in an Arsenal jersey as he fits the player profile we should be looking to get as well his ability to cover an area of the game that we have lacked in a striker since Giroud (headers) I feel he could make the impact. 2/n
He is similar to Alexandre Lacazette in the way he holds up the ball and finds passes as well as having good shooting ability but considering he is 6’2 and physically more capable as well as having good technique, I can’t see a better replacement for our current #9 3/n
On top of that, his price tag is very very low and considering many clubs around the world aren’t going to be going into the window making big money transfers I feel like now is the best time to get him into a club looking for a striker. 4/n
