actual ableist language that ppl need to work on:
-saying the r word
-saying “I’m so ocd/bipolar/anorexic/etc”
-misusing terms like dissociation, manic/depressive episode, special interest, etc
-calling urself/ur friends/whoever “crackheads”
while ur here one of my friends is a pan Black woman musician and she’s releasing a song on July 4th to fundraise for Black trans people. if you have spotify please pre-save the song: https://ffm.to/thefreedompack
also everybody should know that “crackhead” is a deeply racialized term (which I didn’t go much into detail about in the original tweet because I didn’t expect it to blow up). I’ve explained it here: https://twitter.com/616gwen/status/1277658441608237058?s=21 https://twitter.com/616gwen/status/1277658441608237058
here is another good explanation: https://twitter.com/weepinghalo/status/1277762200661352451?s=21 https://twitter.com/weepinghalo/status/1277762200661352451

just want to add a disclaimer that I don’t mean to police the way addicts/former addicts/those affected by addiction in their lives/communities use the word crackhead. this was meant to call our affluent white teens who use the word offensively despite not knowing its history
it’s become a trend on stan twitter to use crackhead to mean wild or wacky, and that is clearly offensive: addiction is not to be taken lightly especially when it was weaponized by the government against lower income communities/communities of color
your relationship to family/friends who have experienced addiction is your own business, and I meant this tweet to call out people who HAVENT experienced the consequences of addiction firsthand, yet still joke about it without realizing how lucky they are
