In today's remote environment, the idea of "speaking up" has taken on new meaning and in some ways, become even more of an intimidating concept for many of us. 🧵
As we stare into screens of gridded faces or docs chock full of fast-moving commentary, it may feel overwhelming to offer up a point-of-view, especially one that may go against the grain.
We worry about how the comment will be received. We worry about whether it will make any difference. We worry that, somehow, our careers will be affected.
I have felt all of those things at some point, and want to let you know that often the risk of NOT speaking up, far outweighs the benefit.
I want to encourage you to push past the fear and SAY something or WRITE something if you feel as though your team is about to make a decision that is bad for people or the company. It may be terrifying, but it sure as hell will be worth it. https://hbr.org/2019/03/how-to-speak-up-when-it-matters
