White áo dài at weddings.
Traditionally the bride wears red (as written in my earlier tweet), but today Vietnamese women may wear white at weddings, which is like a combination of áo dài & the white wedding dress.
Áo dài is not only reserved for special occasions. Here is the plain white áo dài as a high school uniform.
However, traditionally some high schools such as Đồng Khánh (now Hai Bà Trưng, pic 1 & 2) in Thừa Thiên-Huế & Gia Long (now Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, pic 3) in Sài Gòn are associated with the colour purple.
Áo dài with the lotus, which is not officially recognised but generally seen as the national flower of Vietnam.
The conventional colour for áo dài in this case is white.
In this photoshoot by Mạnh Hùng, the conventional white is replaced with black.

A few examples of áo dài at international beauty pageants.
In the second pic of the previous tweet is Trương Thị May. She's associated with a few famous áo dài in Vietnam.
An example is this áo dài made of hair, by Sáng Tân Vĩnh.
Pic 1, 2, 3: the áo dài Trương Thị May wore at Cannes in 2019. Designed by Đinh Văn Thơ.
Pic 4: Trương Thị May wearing another áo dài with the Chinese dragon image. Same designer.
The Chinese dragon appears on the áo dài called the longest in Vietnam. It is 100m in length. Designed by Võ Việt Chung.
What is the heaviest áo dài in Vietnam? I don't know.
But this one, worn by Huyền My at Miss Grand International 2017, weighs about 30kg.
Designed by Ngô Nhật Huy.
This entire outfit weighs about 20kg. Designed by Tuấn Hải.
