@RP3natural Thoughts on Steph Curry being an underdog/overachiever. I think it comes down to the Perception/Narrative fans see and what he tells himself. Obviously, fans see the advantages he had growing up around the league, NBA father, Sports Mom, Skillset, etc. But...
But the reality of basketball is that basic size is usually taken into consideration unless the player has serious physical advantages i.e. unreal quickness, leaping ability, strength. So timing matters because without Steph do we get Trae🤔
So he could be considered an underdog as well. But what about his view? Not getting heavily recruited may have given him that mentality because he knows he can play the game but his advantages don't guarantee he will reach his goals either.
Relate it to Jordan's high school experience. He says he got cut, but the reality is he didn't make varsity for valid reasons from a coach. He built a new story in his head for motivation. Steph not getting heavily recruited begins to find motivation in the same way.
Something that also needs to be considered is the Davidson coach seeing something special and giving Steph the opportunity to play and grow. If he doesn't give Steph the chance to play through his mistakes, does Steph lose faith and start believing other's narrative over his own?
What about being a product of your environment? He obviously had a great environment to grow up in to pursue basketball dreams while another young man from Akron didn't have those same advantages and absolutely overachieved beyond his environment. So maybe he was an underdog🤔
Now for the real kicker: If Steph is an underdog who overachieved, where does Seth fit into the story? Maybe It's all in the Perception and Narrative each wants to see, believe, and share to prove their point.
