WP is really REALLY humanising their candidates while PAP is just keeping their distance. I see WP tweets, facebook posts all over my timeline even when I don't follow them. I have yet to see a presence for any other candidates.

WP is really winning the social media game.
I would not go as far as to say it will be PAP's downfall to ignore social media - but in this age and especially when people are choosing not to be out and about, you can't be banking on walkabouts or banners or rallies to stay in the conciousness of the voters.
Especially when the rest of us see on the daily, posts from individual candidate's personal accounts, official accounts of on the ground work by WP candidates.

PAP do make headlines as well - but those are hardly as human as seeing posts directly from the candidates themselves.
In this era of social distancing, closing this gap between the candidates and the voters is more crucial than ever. And it will be PAP and the other parties' folly not to harness the power of social marketing to reach out to the younger, savvy voters.
and c'mon la social media is no longer just a millenial & gen Z game. your parents not on social media meh? The only people who aren't mostly online are the boomer generation so to ignore a cheap, easy and viable way to connect to the majority of the population is a bad move.
As I say this I am served a town council video on facebook. Ok la you win. LMAO.
Don't even get me started on the other fringe parties, who not only can't get social media marketing right, they can't even get their branding right.
Reform Party standing outside courts in their Ikea uniform is a ??? moment. And not even being able to colour coordinate. How to get voters to trust you if you can't even get this basic thing right? You don't have to wear a uniform but you also can't be lupsup what..
this is not a critic on policy btw, just purely on branding.
and what does this even MEAN??????? build what back? baby got back ah
this is the manifesto page. enough said.
My friend Joel has explained all you need to know about SDP's 4Y1N poster and all it's major flaws so I won't touch that. Check it out here: https://www.instagram.com/limxjoel/

Very insightful!!!
WP has also made 18 posts today in their telegram channel, consolidating all their posts across the different personal accounts. PAP has made 2 posts. Quantity is NOT quality, but who looks like they're doing more on the ground work? WP.

It's that subtle and that easy.
The other party doing good work on social media is PSP. For a new party, they've managed to nail down the essentials for strong branding - uniform, clean and flattering headshots, strategic headline grabbers (check out Joel's explainer on the LHY PR stunt) http://instagram.com/limxjoel
SDA doesn't even have a presence, SingFirst is no more, People's Voices is inseparable from Lim Tean. Red Dot United being a splinter party from a brand new party is already not a good look for them.
Singapore's politics is surprisingly personality driven and not policy driven - and as much as I dislike Lim Tean, I can understand his strategy of being the face of the party. Which brings me back to my main point - HUMANISE YOUR POLITICIANS.
There's no better way than being up close and personal on social media. Even if it's all for show. People want to feel heard, feel noticed, and the easiest way this online rallying election is through social media and it shocks me that many are not tapping on this power.
What PAP needs to do now is to double down on their social media strategy. They have the advantage of only needing to focus on their various town councils - while other parties need to continue to prove themselves to be worthy political parties ( with the exception of WP).
Social media needs to be agile and responsive. Walking the ground? Get some shots in. Gone are the days of staged photo ops. Everyone can see through, and detest them. Looking your best is ironically, not what you need in a social media post. As I've said many times. BE HUMAN!!
As much as people deride marketing and PR as useless and non essential - in times when you need to LOOK your best, marketing and PR is the invisible force that will support and push your branding.
My friend's analysing the design elements of PSP's manifesto here. Design is a major part of branding as well. https://twitter.com/theViscountBP/status/1277645802261803010?s=20
