The Superior Court hearing about the #Sudbury Kingsway Entertainment District (KED) starts today. I'll be following along with the virtual proceedings - and I'll try to share some updates throughout the day. @CBCSudbury
This case is about the process the city followed when approving the development. Businessman Tom Fortin vs. the City. There is also an LPAT hearing date set for September... but the outcome from the Superior Court could have a major impact on that tribunal appeal.
This story from earlier this month gives some background, and an update on where things stand. It's been 3 years since the city approved the development, but it's been held up with legal challenges. Then there were more delays because of COVID. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/sudbury-kingsway-entertainment-district-lpat-update-1.5602373
If you're really keen, you can also watch the proceedings yourself. It's being livestreamed on YouTube:
