Oddly enough, my parents never made me do math problems or read during the summer or anything. I just thought math was fun (I used to play this computer game called math munchers) and I loved to read history books probably because my mom was a history professor 1/
I think the downside is I’m not a disciplined as some of my peers in that way. But, an upside is that my natural interests and curiosity guide my behavior. When I’m interested in something, I tend to focus on it obsessively which can be useful.2/
It also meant that I didn’t form the negative connotation w/ studying. I studied because I loved it. 💀 They just encouraged me to see the value in it so they didn’t have to make me. Idk if that works w/ all kids, but it def seemed to work with me. 3/
