can we please stop calling what’s happening in the community “drama”? it’s so much bigger than that and calling it “drama” feels trivializing.
these are real, hurtful things that were inflicted on people in the community. there are people telling stories of actions that quite literally changed their lives. this isn’t “drama.” it’s real, and for many, was incredibly traumatic.
and if you missed any of what happened, or it seems like we all overreacted to run someone out of the community, send me a DM and i’ll direct you to the tweets you need to see.
and moving forward, once again, please let’s remember that twitter isn’t a vacuum. what happens here doesn’t just stay on the site and that’s it. things happen and people carry those things with them into the rest of their day.
“twitter isn’t real life”

sure, but what’s said and done here can have real life consequences.

so once again, let’s all be kind to each other. there’s a lot being unpacked this week and it really needs to be met with empathy and compassion.
and this isn’t @ any one person. i’ve seen many, MANY voices calling it “drama” and even “cancel culture,” and i thought we were past that. i thought all of the people telling their stories showed that it’s so much bigger than that.
all i’m trying to do is create an understanding. the scope of the situation is so much more far reaching than i think any of us ever anticipated. the fact that one person (now two, i believe) inflicted so much harm and damage on the people in this community is inexcusable.
we have to do better. we have to be better.
oh and while we’re at it. if you’re sitting here wondering (or even joking about) if you’re next to be “cancelled”... consider why you’re thinking that way.

and also, idk, maybe don’t make jokes about it, because everything that’s come out so far has been pretty serious.
