I saw some cap on here earlier today so it's time to tackle it. Thread on why Javi Martinez is a Bayern legend:
Let's start with the basics. What does it take to become a club legend? The answer is "2 things". Multiple years of service and obviously footballing ability.
Javi happens to fit both of these descriptions. He signed for Bayern in 2012 from Athletic Bilbao and is still with us today. Despite his very well known injury record he has played well over 150 games for Bayern
Javi was a crucial player for the German club and was considered among the best number 6s in Europe.
In his 1st Bundesliga season Javi was really solid. His stats are not that impressive as he played for a team that didn't have to defend a lot
His average per game:
-2.3 tackles
-1.9 interceptions
-1.6 fouls
-1 clearance
-0.9 times dribbled past
-0.1 blocks
Rated 7.47 out of 10
It was in the Champions League though that he really went off
Averages per game:
-3 tackles
-3.8 interceptions
-2.1 clearances
-2.2 fouls
-0.3 times dribbled past
-0.3 blocks
Rated 7.41 out of 10

2018/19. Javi didn't play a lot at the start of the season as the team seriously underperformed in the league. However during the second half Javi was a key player even being named Bayern's best player in the month of February as the Bavarians secured the title on the last day.
The CL that year for Bayern was a horror show but Javi was decent nevertheless.
-3 tackles pg
-3.3 interceptions pg
-1.8 fouls pg
-1.5 clearances pg
-0.7 times dribbled past pg
-0.3 blocks pg
Rated 7.64 out of 10
He's really good defensively but that's not all. He's a great passer too and crucial for Bayern's build up play with his pass success % never being below 87 in a Bundesliga season.
Also if we take away the 2014/15 season where he played once and this one he has completed over 42 passes per game in every Bundesliga season he has played in. Same goes for the UCL too đŸ€§
Javi after scoring a late game equalizer thanks to which we went on and won our first ever UEFA Super Cup
As the man himself puts it: "I like to do the dirty work". To me those who don't give credit to Javi are like the idiots that don't rate Lahm. There is more to football than just attacking. Javi Martinez is not flashy or "saucy" but he is effective and a workhorse
In short, respect don Javi and what he has done for this club ffs. He's a warrior, a great teammate and most importantly a Fußball-Club Bayern MĂŒnchen legend
