actually i just wanna make a dumb scholar tricks thread bc i mained this class at the beginning of shb and i learned SO MUCH from those few months alone

note: a lot of this shit is for raiding
for raids: always pre-shield with a deployment tactics adlo. the potency increase from casting a single adlo versus casting succor isn't a whole lot, but deployment tactics is already a tricky skill to use in the middle of combat if the party isn't grouped tight, so fuck it right
and dont be afraid to just pop seraph. i actually use seraph for pre-shields sometimes bc i literally dont use her anywhere else. or i just use her on a random raid-wide bc it means i heal less and therefore i do more damage. everyone wins.
recitation is best used optimally with excog (ie if a tank is about to eat a tankbuster and you KNOW they're going to drop below half health and need the healing), but it's insanely useful to use with adlo to force a crit and then spread it to the party using deployment tactics.
use disspation on cooldown. it's just free aetherflow. ESPECIALLY if you're having healing issues and eos/selene aint cutting it. just fucking get that aetherflow. and if there aren't healing issues??? MORE ENERGY DRAIN.
also i didnt mention this but spend your extra aetherflow stacks on ENERGY DRAIN. lustrate should not be the go-to use for aetherflow if you can help it. spend your fairy gauge before you use lustrate to heal someone UNLESS it's an emergency.
use emergency tactics+succor if you dont have indom or whispering dawn ready, or if you need immediate healing to the whole party that can't be covered by regen. it's gonna heal way more and feel way more satisfying than casting succor and realizing those shields wont be used.
i say that last one bc more often than not i see a scholar use succor to heal raid-wide damage and one) the healing potency is not enough to actually heal and two) the shields will fall off before a majority of them would absorb any kind of damage
also just use fey blessing. it's a bitch heal, but if you're cohealing an extreme trial or something and your cohealer is a whm or astro that covers 80% of the heals, then that fey blessing really adds up when the shit gets hurtie. plus it spend fairy gauge, which is good.
use art of war if you're attacking two or more enemies and are able to hit both enemies with said attack. it does more damage than individually casting broil III.
also, use ruin II if you need to move. dont just stop casting, keep doing DPS. another spell cast means another step towards killing the boss and being done with the fight.
i cannot stress this one enough either, but just let whispering dawn do the healing if the party isn't gonna be taking damage for a while. otherwise if you heal everyone up to full, that whispering dawn is ticking for no reason. dont waste your resources if you can help it.
THIS APPLIES TO EOS+HER SINGLE TARGET HEAL. if someone is hurt, but not in danger of taking any more damage, just let eos take care of it!! it's literally what she's designed to do outside of helping cover the tank's auto attack damage.
and here's just a cool tip for dungeons: it's hard to find a use for deployment tactics while ur running from pull to pull. but if you adlo yourself, you can deploy it onto the tank when their shield runs out instead of having to recast a new shield! saves MP and a GCD!!!
