ACTUALLY, just in general, i wish we as a community would stop encouraging the fact that sharing hate comments is the way to create a following. I've seen cosplayers build entire platforms based on hate they received, and it's always skeeved me the fuck out.
Start supporting people for their work and not just out of pity or as an act of balancing out the hate. Stop using hate comments as your primary source of content. It's an issue both from people capitalizing on it, and from people who only acknowledge them when it's about that.
And bc I feel like someone is gonna try and argue with this, I'll just put it out there ahead of time; seeking creators in underrepresented groups that dont have the same exposure, opportunity, or reach: good. Only acknowledging them when it's a mean comment compilation: shitty.
