/ I've been thinking on how can we expand the niche blockchain gaming community in a way that would organically integrate ourselves with the larger gaming communities. Thread & Test Results 👇 https://twitter.com/coin_artist/status/1277071876175454208?s=20
/ One of the best things about the blockchain gaming community is it is a subset of an already vibrant crypto community - bitcoin, ethereum and more. This subset, due to its creative orientation, is predisposed to inclusivity. Meaning more positive experiences on social media.
/ Due to this inclusive make-up, and by "inclusive" here I mean opinions & perspectives generally being widely appreciated from all participants. Since the group is more collaborative in nature, engagement and participation is simply higher across projects.
/ People on social media tend to wary from toxic/negative experiences. So if you post a rant as opposed to a thought piece, the thought-piece will see more contemplative responses. A one-off rant might see higher engagement, but continued toxicity will create engagement drop-off
/ While engagement from the cryptocurrency community can fluctuate alongside the market volatility, what we've seen from the blockchain game community since 2018 is that it continues to grow steadily month over month.
/ The blockchain game community can do a few things to kick-up broader engagement, many of which are currently being implemented: great referral programs, in-game incentives, events and challenges, and of course delivering great gaming experiences.
/ We've seen many projects start to lean into decentralized assets as prizes to help promote engagement across social media channels, to highlight the unconventional viral marketing opportunities that blockchain assets bring; including airdrops to targeted audiences.
/ Understanding the intersection of the blockchain game community and broader entertainment community has piqued my interest with my background in producing crypto-puzzles and other viral marketing tactics that drive higher engagement from audiences.
/ What I've seen from some recent social media experiments that I've performed is that when I include an image of myself in some manner, engagement analytics skyrocket to 50%. If I were to pay for this sort of engagement it would cost thousands of dollars.
/ So my next question was, if I were to promote this content, and I already know that it has an inherently higher chance of audience engagement - will engagement persist or is it because the engagement is coming from a committed hardcore audience.
/ What I have found is that the engagement persists. The 50% engagement metrics sustain across any generic audience who encounters the content.
/ Often, as a creative, I think about low cost efforts - what do I already have and possess that can make the biggest impact at the lowest cost.
/ Over the years I have built a brand, I have made friends, I have learned some hard social media lessons, and have been forced to get over my shyness... not to mention I have an awesome team and company that I am very proud of.
/ Making games is hard. And it's frig'n expensive. To say taking on two industries at the same time was a challenge is an understatement. I have learned a lot from the process and after 2 years my startup is still alive and kicking.
/ From here, I'm going to start producing more experimental posts based on my recent findings. In the very near future I will be combining what I have learned about targeted marketing with what I know about blockchain asset incentives.
/ As an example, imagine an image of a cosplayer showing a tomb-raider inspired outfit, targeting an existing fanbase. The image would also contain the information needed to unlock a similar in-game characters for something like @neondistrictRPG.
/ I see a future where an influencer could promote a rare tradable avatar skin by using special filters. The gamer audience could snag it for a limited time to sport it in-game, or perhaps across numerous games and other social platforms. /fin
