Today marks 11 years since this guy left us. ❤️ He was such a kind, generous, and funny person. I wish you all could've known him better. I'm extremely proud of the 50 years he had here and I feel his energy in everything I do.
A lot of people don't know that his daughter, my sister was only 3 years old when he died. It was inspiring to watch him get to be a dad like this again, even more so now that I'm going to be a girl dad this October.
These photos are from one of the earliest OxiClean shoots. The set is his actual kitchen at his home that I would visit in Florida every summer growing up.
Pitching in his own backyard. 👍
Sometimes when he recorded on-set voiceovers, it looked like he was cursing the gods.
These photos are from one of the last shoots we got to work on together (he was on-air talent and I was but a lowly production assistant). It was a commercial for Arm & Hammer.
A few months after he died, the digital image technician who worked on that shoot gave me this thermal printout of a moment which captured us both in frame while the cameras rolled. The physical print has deteriorated all these years later but I'm glad it was scanned too.
Never forget that time he got to grill @BarackObama at a press conference.
To bookend this tribute thread, I'll leave you with one of the early 2-minute spots for Orange Glo. 🍊 👍 It's a pretty masterful pitch from the man himself and there's even a little OxiClean cameo to help sweeten the offer.
While you’re here, I’ll remind you that we’re currently raising money to support the Navajo Nation. There are only a handful of shirts left but you can also buy sticker packs knowing that literally all the money (minus shipping costs) is going directly to the cause. Thank you. 👍🏼 https://twitter.com/infinitethird/status/1276194267862577154
