A lot of talk about #Bruno after yesterday's game.

Most blaming him for trying too much, but they seem to not understand the reason behind his style of play.

Let me explain:

A THREAD
It's the business end of the season & Ole knows all he's got is Bruno. An attacking midfielder in the center is key to his quick short passing game. If it isn't Bruno, it's Lingard, Pereira or Mata.

Not starting him means not going for the win.

And Ole wants to win every game.
Since #Bruno joined, #mufc have played 12 games and he has played in all 12 of them starting 11 averaging 80 mins/game.

We've won 8 & drawn 4 of the 12.

In the league Bruno has played 88 mins/game. Only DeGea, Maguire, Lindelof and AWB have more and he's an attacking midfielder
Before the break he had played 8 games in 25 days averaging 72 mins/game, since the restart he's played 3 games in 9 days averaging 96 mins/game.

Since the restart only Maguire & Shaw have played more mins than him.

this isn't to say Ole is running him down to win all games.
Of Bruno's 12 starts he has played a full game just 5 times. Everytime we were ahead by the 60th minute Bruno was subbed off. In other words, the moment the job was done, Bruno was subbed off.

This is what his role is about. That's the role Ole has defined for him.
If he is to start every game, the only way to manage his workload was to model his role around it.

So he was given a free reign to try and shut out the match as early as possible.

The sooner the job is done, the sooner he can come off & focus on recovery and the next match.
THAT is why he's always looking to score.
THAT is why he's always choosing risk over safety. That's his role.

Because with high risk comes high reward. For all the balls he tries, all we need is for 1 to stick.
And it has always stuck. We haven't lost a single game since Bruno came in.

Of the 12 games we've played since Bruno came in, he won 8 and drawn 4. We've on average scored 2.3 goals a game.

For comparison before Bruno came in we were scoring at an average of 1.6 goals/game.
Until we get a backup for Bruno, his role is going to remain the same & it should. He's our prime creator & by letting him do his thing Ole has maximised his impact & minimised his workload per match.

It's a trick that's definitely working, so support him instead of slating him.
Bruno needs to stay Bruno for Manchester United to get back to Manchester United.
