Reading @acgrayling‘s The History of Philosophy and thought I really wouldn’t like to hang out with the ancient philosophers: eg, Pythagoras, who created a cult around him and died because he didn’t want to step on beans; or Heraclitus, who was as obscure as he was arrogant.
But then I remebered that eg Heidegger was a Nazi, or that Searle is a sexual harasser, so I then thought that those ancient guys were doing just fine. (Looking forward to being told that I shouldn’t judge the present with the moral standards of the past...)
Besides this silly remark, I should say that the book is truly worth it. But I fear this thread has spoiled all credibility that my review might have, so I’ll say no more.
