I've seen a lot of comments and people going in on @rickthereduk and his fan cam. I'm a big fan of Ricky and therefore I'm going to post a thread showing exactly what he said so we can see how he was spot on in the majority if not all of what he said.
"Too many changes in the team-this applies to all the team not just Juan Mata" and "that when there's wholesale changes not only is it changes to the team but it's not really a team they haven't played before together as a team".
My comment: A Team needs synergy and chemistry with one another to understand their games whether it is runs off the ball or movement etc. The team struggled for fluidity as a result of lack of knowledge and practice together. Ricky spot on.
"Nobody deserves extra criticism over anybody else because most of them were poor". My comment: It is hard to see a single positive performance for any player in the 1st half. Lack of ideas and devoid of desire to win the game. Ricky spot on.
On Bruno Fernandes "If you try to create a chance every time you get the ball you're going to be involved in creating chances- we need to simplify the game nearly every time he gets it he tries a difficult pass or a long pass".
My comment: Bruno is a great creator and will always take chances but there are times where he tries to force the issue too much. When the pass isn't on. From a numbers perspective the more attempts you have the greater success chance. Ricky spot on.
On Bruno: "The stat that's knocking about Twitter is that he gave the ball away 23 times " vs Sheffield United. "If he did that's more than once every four minutes". "Some players don't get a touch of the ball once every 4 minutes".
My comment: I have looked into the stat and Bruno was factually dispossessed 23 times vs Sheffield United. In addition The 4 minute mark is also about right once you incorporate injury time it is in this ball park. Ricky spot on again.
On Bruno " He's as fit as a fiddle, his enthusiasm for the game is fantastic; his passing's fantastic when he keeps it simple". "You've got to cut this out thinking you can play a winner before the ball even comes to you".
My comment: Clearly Ricky rates Bruno and commends his abilities in the departments he discusses. Again all valid points and it comes down to wanting him to pick the right pass at the right time and show better astuteness. Ricky spot on once more.
"We've brought Bruno to open up defences- we haven't bought him to try to open up defences-he needs to realise when it's on." " He does play good passes" " Some of the horrendous passes that he plays it might as well be Phil Jones trying it".
My comment: Ricky acknowledges Bruno makes good passes. He is talking about Bruno ceding possession too often which is something he is culpable of and that it could be anyone (Jones) playing passes as anyone can play bad passes. Spot on again.
"He's got to cut out too many long balls-he's got to cut out too many shots from distance. He did that better against Sheffield United"
My comment: Bruno was trying things too much and there were some noticeable times where he shot from long distance harmlessly. The latter in particular as Ricky says was far better from him vs Sheff United. Ricky spot on again.
On his previous Jones comment: "I'm saying that tongue in cheek but some of the passes that he made anybody could do it". "If he simplifies his game he'll be brilliant ".
My comment: Again Ricky qualifies his comment here and it is unarguable that any player can make a bad pass. Again there are times where he tries things that are never on. I agree with Ricky that there are times where the simple play is the correct play.
"Matic and Pogba think of the difference we hardly ever looked like scoring until they came on". " Now they're the deeper lying players particularly Matic but obviously once they have a man sent off he gets even further forward".
My comment: We did look far more dangerous when those two came on. Both players showed quality of pass and decision making which helped aid our attacking threat. And when Norwich had a man sent off Matic stepped up to just outside their box. Ricky spot on.
" Look at Matic around the edge of their box- he is not looking to shoot when he gets the ball or the killer pass and neither is Pogba now". "It's all the simple passes until the chance is there to make a chance."
"Bruno's trying to make a chance when there isn't a chance to be made-he's got to stop it". My comment: Pogba and Matic were composed around the Norwich box and kept it simpler. And Bruno was trying to force the issue too often. Ricky spot on again.
" People are going to be on my case and I mean it hand on heart-his work rate, his enthusiasm, his actual ability on the ball is all fantastic it's his decision making that's letting him down he's got to improve it if he improves it he'll be a world class..".
"Player. Some people are saying he's world class now he's nothing like it." My comment: Clearly Ricky rates Bruno and compliments so many of his attributes. His decision making could be improved and world class is subjective we all have different definitions.
My comment continued: There is no English dictionary definition of world class and everyone has a different standard for how they deem a player to be "world class". Ricky spot on regarding Bruno. The world class is his opinion and he is entitled to his view.
"I don't think it is going to be easy to win all our games. I expect us to win but you know Brighton have done well. They have beaten Arsenal, they've drawn with Leicester You've got to take each game as it comes".
My comment: No PL game is an easy win as any team can beat anyone on a given day. Brighton are a good side and have had those good results. We do need to concentrate on each game to ensure we win every one. Ricky spot on.
"If Bruno plays more like Pogba and Matic we'll beat them easily- we'll keep the ball and we'll stretch teams. If we just keep stretching them and keep the games simple we can win the games easily".
My comment: I feel in order to win these games we have to Do exactly that keep things simple and let our overall quality win us these games. There is no excuse not to win given the gap in quality. Ricky correct again.
On MOTM: " Ighalo gets a goal-he also would have got another goal if he didn't get dragged down. As much as Bruno played a good flick to him, which he did, he has great strength to twist the player around and get the ball in front of him."
On MOTM continued: " Sometimes if someone gets 2 goals he automatically gets MOTM and I think Ighalo doesn't get two goals because he gets dragged down". My comment: Of the players who started I would also give it to Ighalo for the reasons Ricky says.
Ricky makes lots of great points which I agree upon with evidence. He rates Bruno but talks about improvement he needs to make which are justified. You have virtually an entire transcript to make up your minds. Keep doing your excellent work
