Each year, we celebrate another Oz book’s centenary, and last year The Magic of Oz, which features the unpronounceable charm ‘pyrzqxgl’! Dennis Wilson Wise’s 9-page article explores the history and function of magic words in and beyond literature:
We began a new continuing series in our Winter 2019 edition, The Lost Art of Oz, with writer and scholar Brady Schwind. Each item will discuss another original piece of artwork from the history of Oz:

The Winter 2019 edition’s magic theme also took us into the life of a famous magician enjoyed by Baum and his ‘Uplifters’ pals with gives insight into the world of The Magic of Oz, in this 2-page article by Ian Davis Smith:
For the first time in its history, the Bugle included an original short story - this time an Oz-related 7-page tale by little-known SF innovator Zenna Henderson, from The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in 1970. [artwork: @MJManley1971]
Continuing our ‘Magic of Oz’ theme was a regular 4-page feature by Scott Cummings, looking at contemporary reviews of Baum’s penultimate Oz book, illustrated with vintage magazine ads:

Oz has had a long life all around the world, and we try to honor as much as possible. In Russia, it even goes by another name but this 3-page feature demonstrates how familiar its characters are and how important culturally:
The M-G-M movie will never be forgotten, and this issue its many fans could enjoy the 4-page second part of Jonathan Shirshekan’s article on the Ruby Slippers’ conservation by the @smithsonian:
