having seen norwich being able to push man united like they did yesterday it made me realise even more just how tragic ipswich are as a club at the moment.

so here’s a thread on everything i think is wrong with the club and how we’ve managed to end up where we are now:

#itfc
problem #1 - marcus evans (1/6)

marcus evans completed his takeover of ipswich town on 18/12/2007 seeing him own 87.5% of the clubs, and consistently finding himself in the top 200 wealthiest people in britain since then.

seems promising right?
here’s why it hasn’t been.
problem #1 - marcus evans (2/6)

footballing knowledge/interest

from day 1 it was made very clear evans knew very little about football and was only interested in the business. immediately declaring his ambition to get to the premier league asap only in order to boost profit.
problem #1 - marcus evans (3/6)

no connection to the fans

he very m rarely spoke out about the club keeping a very low profile. it took 11 years of ownership at the club before making his first video interview directly for the fans. many thinking it showed how little he cares.
problem 1 - marcus evans (4/6)

managerial recruitment

sacking jim magilton days after beating norwich (still our last ever win against them) set the tone. then several below par apppointments that promised so much but delivered so little. only mick making any form of progress.
problem 1 - marcus evans (5/6)

poor investment

time and again we’ve seen either next to no investment in the squad whatsoever, most notably when in the top 2 in january 2015, only spending 200k to try to boost our promotion boost. relying on free transfers and loans instead.
problem 1 - marcus evans (5/6)

five point plan

academy players to first team - yes
competitive squad budget - no
purchase promising players - no
stable management team - no
play attractive attacking football - no

that went well. waste of time.
problem 1 - marcus evans (6/6)

consistent failure.

this hasn’t just been a recent occurrence. we’ve had 1 good season (6th in 2014/15, losing to norwich in play off semis) in his almost 13 years at the club. absolutely shocking in all departments. nothing will change.
problem 2 - paul lambert

2 wins in 2 months resulting in a new 5 year contract (another fault of evans) rotates the team as if he’s playing fifa career mode. never accepts the situation we are in. but at least he played for bigs clubs and the fans are ‘nae normal’. get out.
problem 3 - the squad

the so called best squad in the league stopped playing after september. no fight shown whatsoever to get back on track. look clueless at times. big change needed before next season but as we all know that just won’t happen. about 5 who have performed well.
problem 4 - happy clapping fans

also refuse to see the situation we are in. ‘don’t worry about a thing’ just think we’ll be okay no matter what. the team needs time!! paul is great we get free pints etc etc. need a reality check, gone too long not accepting the state we are in.
problem 5 - lee o’neill

just about the most clueless and most annoying person at the club. how he can smile during every single interview in the state that we are in baffles me. no footballing knowledge at all, and he’s the one in charge of that aspect of the club. scary dumb.
problem 6 - no way out (1-2)

no matter how you see the current situation it’s impossible to see a way out. evans won’t sell. they’re STILL backing lambert. overall management team is clueless. fans continue to think we’ll be fine. there won’t be any improvement to the squad.
problem 6 - no way out (2-2)

at the current rate we wil stagnate in league one for years just like we did in the championship, until we can no longer compete financially again, dropping further down the league. big changes are needed in all departments. they will never come.
end of thread. feedback appreciated.

we are awful. it is depressing.

up the swich.
