Working with your org& #39;s founder(s) maximises learning per unit time. It& #39;s a privilege very few get.

It& #39;s almost a living entity made up of people& #39;s efforts, ambitions and goals.
Doing right by all these people will mean the right thing for the org in the long run.
It was this mindset that UC provided Covid insurance, paid leaves and interest-free loans for all professionals on our marketplace.

It was this mindset that the safety of people was the biggest concern always even as our business went to 0 during lockdowns.
It was this mindset that all UC employees have access to great psychiatrists paid for by UC.

I have never seen UC doing anything remotely unethical under Abhiraj& #39;s watch.

We are market leaders. Our innovations have been driven by the pursuit of great UX. Not by a fierce competitor being at our toes.

It& #39;s a philosophy embedded and protected in the org by our founders.
We can just make a big lead-gen business. Great margins. The UX isn& #39;t right.

We can onboard loads of professionals. Why do extra training? UX.

Own warehouses, 90-day warranty... all UX at core, eventually positively impacting business.

It is like driving a car. You have to continually manouevre the car at every moment while also keeping a sight on where you want to reach.
The idea is to simply optimise for the lifetime transaction instead of the individual transaction.

UC used this formula to move away from our lead-gen business. Lead-gen was our cash cow. It brought in a majority of our revenues and required less intervention from UC.
But, it just focused on the individual transaction and put our interests before the customer& #39;s and the partner& #39;s.

Long-term thinking has helped UC pivot strategy, find new avenues and innovate on service delivery.

Course-correct fiercely.

Leaders know that things don& #39;t follow a first-in / first-out model.
You should always continue to optimise the return on collective time. Often, it means putting things on back-burner or hold in favor of doing something more promising.
It has challenges. Changing gears is not easy. It requires team re-alignment, re-structuring plans and re-crunching numbers maybe.

Abhiraj understands that the more unfair thing will be to let people continue working on less impactful stuff under his command.
The list is much longer and I will write more some other day maybe https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙂" title="Leicht lächelndes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Leicht lächelndes Gesicht">. But it& #39;s been a total pleasure learning from the best.

Next up, I will be writing about learnings from working with our co-founder and CTO @ra9z .
