@Tinder India's pride anthem only miffed me at first. Obviously @RITVIZ isn't exactly a queer icon and is cis het (am I wrong here? am I missing something?) Obviously I enjoyed the video. Anything with @kawaiiblogger95 makes my day better but here are my hot takes on it (1/n)

the people in the video? amazing! some incredible queer individuals with cute queer moments some of us are too familiar with and the whole pride from home thing. Great concept. But why was the music made by a cis het man and the video directed by a white cis het woman? (2/n)

If you're talking about queer representation that includes highlighting queer artists and while you can argue that there aren't any famous Indian queer musicians what about directors? What about everyone else who worked on that music video? Where is the representation? (3/n)

Also why not pick a smaller musician if it means giving a queer person a bigger platform, isn't that what representation is for? @Tinder touts itself as this queer haven in India with stuff like this video and it's collab with @gaysifamily (an org that I ADORE) on Instagram (4/n)

So if they expect us to treat them like the messiahs of queer love in India why can we not get a "pride song" that is actually highlighting queer voices and isn't just a long ad for tinder? Queer voices are needed both infront and behind the screen. UPLIFT voices please. (5/n)

For years queer folk haven't been given a platform to tell their stories but now when a giant like @Tinder gives queer people one, it does it in a performative way. I was so happy to see all these queer folk who I adore and look upto, only to be disappointed bc tinder (6/n)

chose cis het people to be behind the scenes controlling how the story is told instead of hiring queer creatives and giving them a space to occupy! PLEASE tell me I'm wrong, I REALLY want to be wrong here and I want it to be a good example of representation. (7/n)
