The History of slavery worldwide has somehow been reduced to that of other races enslaving Africans.

There was a time when it was very normal to keep slaves. And Africans also kept slaves.

Ayuba Diallo was returning from a slave market when he was captured and sold into slavery
I just don't get this culture of people losing their minds at the thought of (white) people who lived 400 years ago keeping slaves.

Everyone across the world kept slaves. Europeans were enslaved by the Ottomans and the Moors.
Europeans enslaved themselves. Arabs enslaved Africans. African Kingdoms to the North enslaved Arabs they captured in war.

The Dahomey kingdom in West Africa enslaved. Same Sokoto empire enslaved, same as the Oyo empire.

Indians enslaved. Slavery was normal all over the world
These days, you wake up to find one piece of revisionism on the internet after another.

And each one is followed by some faux outrage and the cancel culture that's eaten too deep into our psyche.

Trace your ancestry 600 years back, you'd be unsurprised they also kept slaves
I don't buy into this idea of weaponizing the past for some Political or ideological reasons.

And while we are so obsessed with a slavery that happened 400 years ago, there are modern forms of slavery happening in the Middle East, in Asia and some parts of Eastern Europe.
If we care so much about slavery, maybe the highlight should in stopping modern day slavery.

Hold Arabs accountable for modern slavery, hold their African accomplices accountable too.
