the lore of ye (a thread)

I Thought About Killing You

Kanye opens up with an inner monologue about killing someone. Although it's easy to assume he's talking about like Kim with the lines like "And I, I love myself way more than I love you" but he's actually talking about killing his ego to become better
Yikes

In the next track, Kanye talks about how his bipolar disorder's effects on him. Although it caused him to become Kanye West and is what made him a celebrity he considers it to be a "super power"
But on the other hand, it's caused Ye to get addicted to opioids due to overprescribing him, hospitalized in UCLA, and have televised outbursts that have ruined his reputation
In Track 3 Ye, Ant and Ty (the Yandhi trio) talk about Kanye's infidelity and how women and the temptation of sex have made him to lose his self-control.

This also ties back into the narrative of Yikes. I'd go more in-depth but this isn't my fav on the album
Wouldn't Leave

Is pretty straight forwards, its basically Kanye just saying "Kim ty for not divorcing my crazy ass, Ily."
No Mistakes

Is basically Kanye just saying "Ive been through a lot of shit recently, but we can move past" Wether this be his massive debt, his hospitalization, his highly publicized "moments" or his beef with Drake, he's wants to moved past it and I feel like hes sayin so can u
The Best Song of 2018

Jesus Christ I love this song. I PUT MY HAND ON A STOVE
TO SEE IF I STILL BLEEEEEEEEEEED
I FEEL KIND OFFF FREEEEEEEEEEE
Violent Crimes

This is Kanye's 4:44. Just a few years ago Kanye was talking about how getting bleach on his shirts and much more. But now he's talking about how much he wants to protect his daughter from men like him that will try to oversexualize and take advantage of her.
So what is this Violent Crime? Although you could say it's coming from the line "If you whoop her ass, she move in with him" but I think its the album.

On "I thought about killing you" Kanye talked about killing his ego and that's exactly what he did here.
I'm not going to lie ye was never my favorite Kanye album. But by making this thread I've forced myself to look at it more closely and I have a newfound appreciation for ye.

Earlier today I said GMCS > ye but now I have a new hot take for y'all
