From the get go - Police we’re making this hard on community. They had closed the parking lots and put up big concrete barriers to the sidewalks. Causing major mobility issues. (2/?)
They had put a flimsy barrier between our museum and a city building to block access to the Police Station. This became a major hit point / escalation point periodically throughout the day. (3/?)
Two actions continued to happen — one on the grassy park and one near that barrier. This happened at all the actions - at 1 PM, at 4 PM, at 7:30 PM. And most people most of the time we’re on the grassy area or marching in the streets peacefully.
There were reports that people were handing out rocks — so we went through the Activists looking for said aggitators... surprisingly, there were none. We didn’t find anyone with rocks. There were at least two people open carrying - but last I checked, that’s not against the law.
After the youth march, we start helping the sound guy take down his equipment. The #Aurora City Manager tells us the next action - the Violin Vigil can use the grassy area and the Municipal steps because it’s public property.
So we go around telling all the violinists — of all ages — they are welcome to use the fountain area near the municipal center. While this is happening, we see the Sherriffs cars (many unmarked) speed around the City buildings.
