Lot of people will come after me for saying this but fact is that BJP has inherited a system- nurtured & nourished for more than 50 yrs by congress; roots whereof have gone so deep and became so strong over that period that irrespective of how hard u try-u r bound to hit the wall

You can’t bulldoze everything on a day to day basis. Using more force would mean that u will end up earning enemies at every step- enemies who have capacity to stonewall or paralyse the system. And unfortunately it is politician in power who has to bear the brunt of all that.

So most of the times it is abt doing things that will further the larger objective. Take an example of NEP- nor that Govt is not trying but such is the system that before u attempt anything- media is filled with all sorts of report. Files can’t travel faster than news!

Those who don’t believe me need to check Anil Swaroop’s twitter handle. This man was our HRD secretary for long and his views on twitter can give u an understanding of his thought process- now imagine implementing NEP with such man at helm- and trf is no solution.

Also, even today majority of Secretaries at centre and Chief Secretaries in states are of late 80s batch- that was the time when Congress was synonymous with power in India. They all r like those “2 generations back Indians” with nostalgia of undivided India.

Such folks have still not gotten used to BJP in power. Barring bureaucrats of Guj cadre and to some extent MP and CG cadre, all of them are used to seeing Cong and BJP splitting the honours in states and their work ethic hasn’t gotten used to that fact of BJP as a full force!

Governance in India suffers from a disease called “Nehruvian Consensus” and system is its flagbearer. It is in this background, that many of NM Govt achievements are actually great work of art. Understand that Govts can’t open fronts everywhere. Govt also has to pick its battles!

Patience alone is the key- BJP in power is different from “kaddu karega sab mein bantega” style Cong in power. Latter keeps everyone happy and that acts as grease and helps keep system well lubricated. BJPs in general is a diff model and hence system tends to resist!

That said - BJP Govts across India have to strike a balance between twin objectives- reforming the system and also governing India and states on daily basis. It is this tightrope walking that BJP govts has to do but then patience is not our virtue and I am included in that our!

If you have all the good intentions and integrity-keeping yourself motivated while working in this system is a Herculean task and that’s why I admire everyone who gets inside and does his/her bit. Not everyone is in it for money sake- that’s where BJP supporters r diff fm Cong!
