As a (former) financial aid administrator who did info nights for HS parents and students, one of my greatest wishes is to get folks to start paying attention to the fin aid process starting in middle school instead of only becoming a priority months before applying to college. https://twitter.com/amyglynn15/status/1276936082248962048
They need time to overcome misconceptions, internalize the importance, manage expectations, plan, and make informed decisions.

The way formal fin aid information is typically passed along late in high school perpetuates disparities in access and opportunity.
School counselors are already overburdened & getting folks to even show up for fin aid nights in fall senior year is hard. But there needs to be a long term commitment by schools to normalize the availability & expectation of college fin aid info at beginning of HS, not the end.
