I've now compared my cats to characters from #AvatarTheLastAirbender ( https://twitter.com/I_Ailurophile/status/1269364940869173250?s=19) and #TheLegendOfKorra ( https://twitter.com/I_Ailurophile/status/1276980622620192769?s=19), but the debate rages eternal: which series is better?

I'm continually undecided.
LoK is easily superior in technical terms of the production. Music, sound, effects, animation, all blow AtLA away.

But AtLA has a more compelling narrative. It's an epic journey, whereas LoK feels more like a simpler series of several adventures, less convincingly interwoven.
Then again, I like Korra as a protagonist much more than Aang. At least to me, Korra is more relatable; her character feels a bit more fleshed out. Though, tbf, maybe that just reflects how Korra is a few years older--Aang is only just learning who he really is, by comparison.
OTOH, the most notable supporting characters of AtLA (Sokka, Kitara; Toph, Zuko, Suki) are generally more likable, more relatable, & better written than those of LoK (Mako, Bolin, Asami; Tenzin & the airbender kids, Verrick). They have more personality, overall. & none are cops.
But: #KORRASAMI! The canon ship that launched a million squeals of delight!
BUT: Zuko's redemption arc! The absolute best part of either show!
...but: Zuko's story far overshadows the actual protagonist's
...also but: while I'm sure it was a matter of what Nickelodeon's network executives decided could or couldn't be shown on television, Korra and Asami's budding relationship isn't significantly developed in LoK. They don't get to kiss.
The one area I think both are evenly matched is in the antagonists. Much credit to the writers for such complex, varied opposing characters. Zuko, Azula & friends, Long Feng & the Dai Li. Zaheer & the Red Lotus; Kuvira; Desna & Eska. Even episodic villains have a lot to them.
It doesn't really matter, ultimately. Both shows are fantastic, both have their strengths and weaknesses.

So what is the point of this thread?
