THREAD: A close friend of mines daughter was being mercilessly bullied in school by a bunch of really mean kids. They were constantly calling her names and insulting her. They started a rumor about her, and said that she doesn’t shower and that she was fat.
She wasn’t fat, and she did shower, but it didn’t matter. These were the popular kids and they had a ton of pull. By the time they were done, the entire grade HATED this girl and she was on the brink. She asked her mom for help and her mom told her to try just being extra nice.
She tried that, and it made it worse. The girls tripled down. They started physically abusing her, and the girl was at her wits end. It was incessant. It never stopped. They would badger her until she cried her eyes out. So sad.
Her mom told her to never hit back, because violence was wrong. She told her to try agreeing with the girls and giving in to some of their demands, like where to sit at lunch and what hallways she should use. She did that and it just got worse and worse until the girl (cont)
Stopped going to school and started faking illness. The school administrators were no help either. My friend was going to move the girl to a different school, but the commute would have been impossible, so she was stuck there.
She tried ever manner of compliance, nothing worked. They would corner her in the hallways they told her to use and stick things in her hair, and smack and hit her while they insulted her and the other kids laughed. She was emotionally and mentally destroyed
Finally, her dad got back from deployment, and sat her down and asked what had been happening at school. The daughter explained everything and how no matter what she did these girls just got worse and worse, that she tried being nice, and she tried being agreeable.
She told him how she listened to them about where to sit, and showered twice a day now, just in case she did smell, even though she knew she didn’t. Finally the dad interrupted her and told her “Tomorrow when you go into school and one of these girls hits you...
I want you to punch her so hard in the face that her nose bleeds and she gets black eyes. Really let her have it. Then I want you to sit at her table at lunch, and I want you to laugh when they make fun of you. DO YOU HEAR ME?”
The girl was scared. She wondered how much worse it would get for her after that. I mean, look what they were doing to her now! But, she really looked up to her dad and he said she wouldn’t get in trouble, so they next day she did exactly what her dad said.
She was cornered in the hallway and instead of falling down, she mustered up all of her courage and she beat the daylights out of the girl who hit her. The next day at lunch, she marched up to their table, slammed her tray down and sat there. The mean girls were stunned.
They tried making fun of her, but when they did she just stared and laughed. She started ignoring them and having conversations with others at the table. The mean girls were super confused and embarrassed that their taunts had stopped working.
The supposedly smelly girl started gathering friends because no one was afraid to be around her anymore. They all started speaking up about how much they disliked the bullies, and people stopped paying attention to them altogether.
By the end of the school year, with a short suspension under her belt, my friends daughter was the most popular kid in that school and class president. No one cared if she missed a shower
Moral of the story? STOP ACTING LIKE THE WEAK GIRL AND START ACTING LIKE THE ONE THE MARINE TALKED SOME SENSE INTO. Stop assigning these a$$holes power. They only way they succeed is when you allow them to control YOU.
