So I’ve seen a lot of people trying to discredit not only the whole Trafficking Hub movement against PornHub but also individual stories as victims, including my own. Why? Because the group behind Trafficking Hub is a Christian group. & let’s be honest- because of rape culture.
There is nothing special or extraordinary or unique about those who attack & attempt to discredit victims. I am speaking from my own personal experiences with this group here & the compassionate way I’ve seen them treat others, including other survivors & sex workers.
This group & some of their affiliate groups reached out to me after my story with BBC World News went viral in 41 languages. I have never before or since had ANYONE in the last eleven years help me like they have- legal stuff, security, 24/7 emotional support & SO much more. https://twitter.com/RoseKalemba/status/1226664021241290753
I see so much slander & lies posted about this group. I feel confident that they are slander & lies because the same people peddling this false information, are more often than not the same people slandering & making up completely baseless lies about me & other survivors.
This group gets falsely accused all the time of being homophobic, racist, you name it. I am an indigenous (First Nations-Siksika) woman & openly bisexual & they’ve never once for a second made me feel bad about any part of myself. They’ve unconditionally accepted & supported me.
I do not come from a privileged position & I don’t have any resources. I have never had help like this in my life. & no, I’m not being “used.” The advocates helping me know I lean in favor of decrim & have never attacked me for my views on this or anything else.
Plenty of sex workers support the Trafficking Hub petition. They often get called stupid & otherwise insulted for doing so by the same people trying to discredit us victims. Trafficking Hub isn’t the only petition against PornHub- & some are started by sex workers themselves.
If you don’t want to sign or support the Trafficking Hub petition, even though it’s a non-religious petition focused specifically on PornHub’s crimes against humanity, then in this tweet & the following are two sex-worker petitions against PornHub: https://twitter.com/RoseKalemba/status/1262983024146251776
Another group also has a sex-worker based petition against PornHub you can sign here: https://twitter.com/SWersAgainstSA/status/1266486924224548864
