As movements rise & people take to the streets, injustice is exposed, the righteousness is undeniable, and then people get tired, because it’s hard to carry the weight of a movement for months at a time. Governments & institutions vow to change under the microscope. (Con’t)
Until the pressure is released. Then they do nothing. They revert back to their normal. Relieved no real change had to happen. Governments can wait out movements. They know they have endless resources to do so.
Sometimes I wonder about the pressure cooker. Early on in an uprising you can feel it, the energy is like that. Like a pressure cooker. Authorities stutter for a brief moment. And in that moment they can be forced to change. Change never comes willingly.
I don’t know what will happen. But I do know that many more people than a decade ago are just not believe authorities bull anymore. They see the contradictions and the lies and the hypocrisy. Millions for millionaires while people struggle for basics.
Billions in subsidies to corporations while not a cent more to help those on disability without money for food. Millions for millionaires and nothing for the people. While police kill and beat Black and Indigenous people and yet Black and Indigenous people fill the jails.
People are pulling down statues, but it won’t stop there. Because it’s the genocial and murderous land stealing foundation upon which these governments are built that needs to come down. Redistribution fairly and justly of wealth and power and the protection of Mother Earth.
These are the things more and more people are seeing and wanting. But first before anythjng, an end to police voilence and white supremacy. #defundthepolice #fundcommunities
