Shane Dawson has done more makeup for his blackface videos, than he& #39;s ever done conventional makeup looks for Youtube videos. I& #39;m not saying people don& #39;t change, but I just wanted to point that out.
If you were a highschooler and one of your classmates came to school in blackface, it wouldn& #39;t be unreasonable for you to dismiss that person as a racist and move on. People can change without you accepting their apology or caring that they& #39;ve moved on.
I dunno why people give Youtube leeway that they wouldn& #39;t give strangers, when those Youtubers know you just as well as a stranger on the street. I understand rehabing your friends but some influencer? I don& #39;t get it.
Personally, there are a handful of Youtubers whom still have thriving careers, whom people still support who have done racist shit and I haven& #39;t checked in on them forever because i don& #39;t really care if they& #39;ve grown or changed, there are other Youtubers to watch.
I& #39;ve said and done some shitty things and I probably will continue to do so. You& #39;re not irrational for wanting to disengage from my content if I& #39;ve hurt you. I think it takes so much more strength to move on from something you loved, than sit and justify it while it& #39;s problematic
And i& #39;m gonna need those of you, ,still suspending your disbelief to just stop being shocked when people turn out to not be great, afterall... It& #39;s like people who were friends with tana and jeffree and were shocked they did racist shit... duh.
And to be clear, I& #39;m more than positive that people who were popular for being edgy in the 2000s have probably changed their feelings about that stuff now, but that& #39;s different than what I& #39;m talking about here. I don& #39;t get why people care and give leeway.
