Let's talk about decolonization and Cuba. The Cuba of today is not metaphysically seperate from its previous form. It was a result of the progressive side of Cuban history dominating over the reactionary side. The Cuba of today is not removed from is colonial past
2/16

It is a total and complete continuity. They, unlike the American left, were willing to grapple with their historical duty, ammended for, and continue to amend for, their historical faults. They did not seek to seperate themselves from their history metaphysically
3/16

They dialectically sought to build up a society that fixed their historic baggage.

Decolonization does not come from revolutionaries declaring that a former state no longer exists. You can declare the US to be abolished, but all of the colonial realities still exist.
4/16

The lesson here is, you can rail against the idea of the colonial legacy, but the colonial legacy exists materially, it exists in the geographic area, be it called the US of A, or the Black New Afrikan Republic, or the Reborn Tecumseh Confederation.
5/16

If you really want to learn from Cuba, understand this. Revolutions, and decolonization, are achieved through grabbing the progressive side of a society, and building it up, into a movement, a movement that can turn ideas into reality. But these ideas need to be grounded
6/16

In materialism. You can call the USA whatever you like, you can abolish it in name, but that does nothing to abolish the legacy of colonialism. You can grant self determination as an independent state to all the ethnic minorities, and that will not change the
7/16

The economic balance of North America. Trade and infrastructure will continue to be based around New York. Reparations are too poorly understood by the American left. If it's to be effective it cannot just be a cheque to individuals who were impacted by colonialism
8/16

It has to be a complete restructuring of the north American economy. I judge that this would be greatly hindered if the model of self determination was around independent states. Another lesson to take from Latin America, is that of a plurinational republic
9/16

If the USA was "balkanized" any economic restructureization would have to be an inter national effort, subject to economic treaties, and diplomatic deadlocks. However if it remained a unitary state, many of these roadblocks, simply don't exist.
10/16

Fundimentally what I want to warn against, is ultra left positions, that may sound very radical and revolutionary in one's mind. But in reality, all they do is pose obstacles in the revolution.

However, self determination is fundimentally up to those who compose
11/16

Any given nation. Therefore the last call is theirs, if a revolution was to happen in the US it would be the duty of the revolutionary movement to hold a referendum for independence of the nations that exist within its borders. If the independence vote was to win
12/16

Then what is written above is simply the way that things must be done. But I have serious doubts that at the very least, a Chicano independence movement would win such a vote. Other areas I don't want to comment on because I don't know them as well as the sun belt.
13/16

Got lost in the sauce, let's talk about how such a movement is built. Another of the problems of railing against America metaphysically, not understanding the dialectics of history, the fact that every country, every history has a progressive side, is that it
14/16

Separates you from the masses. Most of the masses in America, identify with it. But it would be a mistake to assume they are identifying with the reactionary side of America, they're not identifying with slave owners, war criminals, and imperialism.
15/16

They are identifying with the progressive side of America, people who want to build a better future for themselves, their family, and their community, through hard work and determination. And if you reject all of America, you reject its progressive side
16/16

The side that working people identify with. Just like Cuba, you have to grab this progressive legacy, and use it to crush the reactionary side of America. You do this by engaging with the progressive side, not by rejecting the entire legacy of the country.
