Ok I just discovered streamable Degrassi The Next Generation. This will now be my Degrassi as an Adult thread.

Moment I'm particularly excited for: Manny's abortion. When I watched this show regularly, it was always referenced a lot, but I never had the privilege of actually seeing it.

Emma is about the be catfished by an old man she met on the internet and the 2nd episode has barely even started. I fucking love this show.

Her predator is actually kinda cute in a shark-tooth-necklace sort of way, but she's like 11, so that's not ideal.

Yup, she gets kidnapped by a pedophile in the 2nd episode. This is the greatest show in the history of television.

The Paige debut is fucking LEGENDARY. She's wearing chunky platform sandles, a belly top that says "Hottie", rhinestoned orange sunglasses, and one of her first lines is "New year, new look, new Paige!"

It's like the 2000's threw up a person.

I want to have a good Degrassi thread but all I can think of is different versions of...

In this episode, Drake abuses Ritalin to be able to juggle the responsibilities of basketball and high school.

(Oh, I'm going to refer to him as Drake instead of Jimmy from now on because it's funnier. Obviously)

Also, I love that Degrassi was legitimately ahead of its time on many things, but they still made the Black kid play basketball and later invented a Black girl character for him so he could date.

Oooo apparently Hottie Paige is actually in the credits. I didn't mention the 2 single hair braids before, but they're also excellent.

Paige is an irredeemable bitch, but I love her.
