The front page of CBS Sports right now. NWSL is in the header but there are zero (0) stories about the league anywhere on the page.
There's a nice article written by Sandra (good hire!) if you click into the NWSL section. But no effort whatsoever to treat the league as a subject of interest to the generic sports fan. https://www.cbssports.com/nwsl/news/north-carolina-courage-vs-portland-thorns-fc-lynn-williams-scores-late-winner-in-nwsl-challenge-cup/live/
There has been ONE major league sports event in the United States in the last three months. It just broadcast on your own network. Put it on your front page!
ESPN frontpage has a story on the BLM protest at the top and then a story on the game (featuring a photo of the losing team, including a player not participating in the event). You just have to scroll through 20 other things first.
Yahoo has a story on the kneeling, and a detailed game report, which reads, in its entirety:
"The NWSL’s Challenge Cup game ended with a thrill. The Courage beat the Thorns 2-1, with all three goals coming in the final 20 minutes of the match."
"The NWSL’s Challenge Cup game ended with a thrill. The Courage beat the Thorns 2-1, with all three goals coming in the final 20 minutes of the match."
NBC Sports page has a short article on the kneeling. Literally zero discussion of the game itself. Not even the score.
Fox Sports has the article from yesterday by Charlotte Wilder about returning with Covid. Nothing about the game, not even on the Soccer page.
