What it felt like to see my friend come out over social media a thread: hello world today at 8:00 this morning I saw my friend posted text over instagram from iphone notes, stating that he was "a gay man" in bold italicized font, saying how he came to the conclusion
And then daring anyone who had decent about it to block and unfollow him.. as a straight man I could not find it in me to have issues with this, me and my friend have known each other from elementary school and ended up going to the same middle school and have been friends since
We are now 20 and 21 and enjoy each others company, I dont know how I'd feel if he liked me, I suppose I would have to break it to him that being friends is fine for me, I would not know how to handle myself ina gay relationship and I am more a ladies man...
But what he prefers is not my issue, I am happy he has done it nonetheless, my point is now i actually have a gay friend who I'm in closer contact with and is still very much part of my daily life, and so now I can say for sure it baffles me more that people have issues with this
Me being of Christian faith and him being of the same faith, we still find it in us to not have problems with who loves who... I found it even less of a bother when I remembered what band we liked and what said band stood for...
@DanReynolds you're support of the gay community inside and outside of the mormon faith means more to him and me now then it ever did I suspect... it would be an honor if you saw this thread and shared a part or of not all of it for the world to see.
Out of respect for him his name is not in this, if you ever see this @DanReynolds @Imaginedragons @IDragonsDaily I hope the message spreads that people should not have issues with this kind of thing because #loveislove ... #gaypride
