Republicans are really good at mobilizing white identity and reactionary politics to cut taxes for the rich. The Left needs to translate this tremendous mobilization around racial justice into material, class-based (w/ intersectional race and gender internalized) transformations.
I don’t think universalist social programs are at odds with race and gender-specific policies. They certainly can co-exist, and I think that is the way you build multi-race, gender, and class coalitions that transform the political economy of America.
Things like the Green New Deal, the Homes Guarantee, and Medicare 4 All weave this thread.
Don’t let corporations posting black squares co-opt this movement. We can and should pursue the deconstruction of symbols to white supremacy, but we can’t let the changes stop there. Don’t let them convince you it’s enough. Racial justice requires material changes.
