Only had one set of uniforms so having to wash nightly. Stealing shirts so I could have a rotation. And lord I hated when I worked at carvel. That ice cream machine was a nightmare to clean.

Folks arguing about they wanted the “real” ice cream and I’m like bish they the same lol and on god don’t let you get a line and you the only one over there working

I hated Cinnabon for the same reason. Plus it was boring. Nobody to talk to. And you couldn’t even have cellphone out

We only got 30 min break and had to wait in line for our food and that would eat into our break. During holidays they lines was hella long

I remember I got told my the shift leader that I couldn’t trade my food with somebody else. I was like I don’t wanna eat this shit. And we work under HMS Host so what’s the deal???

There was a chicken place the Sbarro manager used to manage and I FUCKING HATED THAT PLACE. That was hard work and I didn’t know shit about grilling or frying.

I done everything from prep (which was my favorite bc you’re in the back away from customers and you could play music, joke, call/text folks) to wash dishes, clean hooding vents, make and serve food, cashier, train, you name it. The two years I was there in high school.

And I think I did it my freshman year and I never looked bad. After that I said good riddance to that shit. And I was making $7.25 which was more than the min wage in 2006. Then I quit and got $8. Thought I was doing something

Anyway the point of this thread is pay these workers more. Give them paid vacay, sick time, and excellent benefits. They wear many hats & there is a lot of skill needed to provide these services efficiently and effectively. It’s not unskilled, it’s just undervalued bc capitalism!
