Okay, first off, this is a Big Mood and I wanna talk about it

Second, the behaviors feel "normal" bc they are, for you. You've never lived any other way so you don't know what it feels like to be neurotypical.

I didn't realize until 6-7(?) months ago I have ADHD, and it took me even longer to realize I am autistic as well—solely because I didn't have anything to compare my experience to.

I remember reading through lists of traits and symptoms for, and other people's experiences with either ADHD or autism or both and constantly saying, "Okay, seriously. Not everyone does this??"

For those of you struggling with this: stop, please stop, comparing your experience with others in terms of "I don't have it as bad as them"
The only criteria for it being "bad enough" is if it significantly affects one or more areas of your life.

I have what could be considered "mild/high functioning" ADHD + autism; but only because I've taught myself how to deal with it over the years and learned how to keep my symptoms from affecting anyone else.

ADHD and autism are spectrums.
Everyone presents differently.
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and coping mechanisms and masking techniques.
Some people obviously struggle.
Everyone struggles in ways you can't see.

6/11
The way ADHD or autism or both presents in you will be entirely unique, affected by the millions of things unique about your life.

My advice is: if the experiences of others ring true for you and you want help—reach out.
There's no shame in needing "extra" help.
There's no shame in being different.
There's no shame in embracing who you are and learning to work with the brain and body you have.

So, what if?
What if you're wrong, it turns out you're not ADHD or autistic or whatever after all.
You learned. You grew. It's okay.
Maybe you found friends or connections that helped you along your path.
Maybe you heard someone when they needed to be heard.
