It was past 1 a.m. in Houston when Joe Louis Castillanos was walking the streets alone. A Marine veteran who had PTSD, Castillanos had told his wife, Joelaunda, that he intended to kill himself.

After he grabbed a gun on his way out, Joelaunda called the cops.
Joelaunda explained her husband's state of mind to the dispatcher and went out to look for Joe. As she found him, two police cars arrived.

The situation between Joe and the cops escalated, all while Joelaunda pleaded "don't shoot." After issuing commands, the cops shot him.

As the sun was rising in Phoenix, a public safety trooper fatally shot 28-year-old Dion Johnson. His mother, Erma, only knows the police version of events — which she believes don't make sense. “It’s hard to believe because [Dion] was not confrontational with the law," she said.
According to police, Dion was found asleep in the car with beer cans scattered. The trooper managed to remove a gun from the passenger seat without waking Dion, police say, and that after the trooper woke up her son, Dion reached for the officer’s gun, prompting him to shoot.
Erma had taught her son to record interactions with the police, but in this instance, he didn't. The only video of the incident comes from a traffic cam, after the shooting, showing two patrol officers appearing to hold him to the ground as he bled.
Around 11:30 PM ET, sheriff’s deputies in Tennessee received a call about a man with a large knife threatening to hurt himself and a loved one. They found Gary Patrick Dorton, 44. Authorities say, Pat charged with the knife and deputies used Tasers and bullets.
Just before 10pm in Modesto, California, an officer shot 35-year-old Reymar Gagarin. Police claim Reymar told his friends he planned to provoke officers into shooting him, and a police statement said Reymar flashed a fake gun as he approached the officers.
