I think Hasan Minhaj gets a bad rap sometimes, he& #39;s decently funny usually and is quite good at explaining things on his show. However, if you& #39;re going to constantly reference the fact that you& #39;re a Muslim in your career, expect to be checked when you step out of line.
I couldn& #39;t even bring myself to finish watching that clip. It was so unbelievably cringey and unnecessarily disrespectful. Mocking such an integral part of our faith for a few laughs? I know he can do much better.
I always had a high respect for people like Dave Chapelle and Mos Def because they would refrain from mentioning their Islam as to not attach their actions and misdeeds to the religion. Being in the public eye is always representation, but especially if you call to it so often.
Right now it doesn& #39;t seem like a big deal but in the long run it makes a massive impact. We see the way modern day Christians consistently allow God and Jesus to constantly be berated and mocked in low taste depictions throughout popular media.
The watering down started somewhere, and by taking shots at key parts of the faith and brushing it off as a joke only goes to serve that.
Didn& #39;t even realize until now he referred to Allah ﷻ as "the man upstairs" thats a whole other can of worms
