Story Time!

Last night some neighbor friends invited us over for a distanced hang. They’re older, very nice. I got to talking about how I collect and write about video games.

“Oh, we have some old Nintendos in the attic.”

So we climbed up there and dug out this box.
Of course I live for this kinda of moment. We ripped the tape off the top and my neighbor pulled out a bag of controllers and wires, then a dusty N64 and NES. But the box was far from empty!
N64 games! A ton of classics. I already had them all, but still. It’s a good little collection. I explained what Banjo-Kazooie was and why it’s my favorite.
Then I saw them. Complete-in-box NES games. CLASSICS. Zelda, Kirby, Dr. Mario, Adventure Island, and the original Final Fantasy. My jaw about hit the attic floor.
Along with these boxed games were some other NES classics. Super Mario Bros 1 and 3, DK, Home Alone, and a Simpsons game. All in great condition. There was also the beat up manual for SMB3.
What. A. Haul. I couldn’t believe it.

I offered to buy the games I didn’t have, but he refused. Instead he hands me the whole box and tells me he just wants me to take it all for free. They’ve been in the attic for like 15 years. “You’ll appreciate them,” he told me.
I was stunned and tried to offer him money again. Said I didn’t have to take them if they had sentimental value, but he insisted.

And that’s how I scored this amazing haul out of nowhere. My mind is blown.

I’m planning to do something as a thank you, though I’m not sure what.
I retain my title as Luckiest Boy in the World™
I know the husband plays PS3 from time to time and enjoys the Arkham games. I should get him a new game. Maybe Uncharted? Portal 2? Hmmm. Recommendations welcome.
