#Taoiseach A few points regarding our new government:-

Sinn Fein/Mary Lou did NOT win a majority/the election. To do so would require 81 seats in the Dail. Sinn Fein did have a good election result but came nowhere near a majority of seats. So they cannot claim to have won.
Secondly, the people of Ireland did NOT all vote for change. Those who voted Sinn Fein and left wing parties may have but the majority of people voted for centre right parties. Hardly a mandate for change on the scale Sinn Fein claim.
Thirdly, the newly formed FF/FG/Green government is democratically elected. Each party has TDs elected by the people of Ireland. All three parties have a majority of seats in the Dail. It's a coalition government, a democratic norm.
Remember the way indirect democracy works. The people elect the Dail and then the Dail elects the Taoiseach and government. This is completely democratic as a majority of TDs elected by the people chose the government.
The new government is NOT right wing. Its is a conservative right of centre coalition (with added Greens.)
No matter how much Sinn Fein and their pals scream right wing, it's not.
Want right wing? Look at Poland and Hungary's governments. Our new government is nothing like that.
So, we have a newly elected government that broadly represents where a majority of the Irish electorate stand.
There is an minority of a different political allegiance. True. But that's what opposition is for in a parliament. That's democracy. Sinn Fein need to accept that.
Oh and one last thing. It does not matter ONE JOT what count a TD is elected on. We have a multi-seat PR voting system. Lots of TDs Get elected on later counts. The count you are elected on means NOTHING. What counts is getting elected full stop. All 160 TDs are legitimate.
