so. i believe my neighbor is dealing with a domestic violence situation & i don’t want to call the cops (obviously) so i called the national domestic violence hotline & the wait time is 50 mins. this is heartbreaking.

i’m gonna stay on hold but if anyone has advice please let me know.

thanks for everyone’s advice, i was able to speak to someone at the NY dv & sexual abuse hotline & they said if i felt safe to knock & ask if “you two are ok” to avoid it looking like i was blaming one person. just as i was about to knock the guy left & said he was gonna cool off

i introduced myself, asked if everyone was ok. he said they’d been arguing & that he was gonna take a walk. i said that sounds like a good idea & please let me know if i can help in any way. waited for him to leave, knocked again hoping to get his partner but no answer.

i don’t know that there’s much more i can do at this point but i’m gonna keep do my best to make myself available when/if i see her in the bldg. right now it’s hard bc most of us are sheltering in place so the bldg is pretty empty but i’m gonna try. thanks for everyone’s help
