✨ FELIX EVER AFTER BY KACEN CALLENDER : why this book is important and why you all should read it ✨
• First of all, the main protagonist is a black, transgender and queer teen, who studies art. His name is Felix Love and he wants to know how does it feel to be in love. Apart from that, this book is about questioning identity and self-discovery.
• « The real issue was me realizing that these were things society has assigned to girls » : Felix talking about the stereotype about dresses and dolls for girls.
• Ezra saying « I know it's not you » when he saw old pictures of Felix before he transitioned : this is so important.
• This discussion between Felix and his father.
• « Me having brown skin, and being queer, and being trans on top of that »
• This sentence !!!!
• It made me think about the fact that we shouldn't separate the man from the artist. If the man/woman is an horrible person, it doesn't matter if his/her art is great.
• Ezra saying this after Felix said to him that he put his dad through a lot because of his transition : this is important.
• Felix talking about how the world perceives transgender people.
• "Only I have the power to say who I am."

Felix received transphobic messages on Instagram from an anonymous person, and here's his answer.
• This passage made me sad and angry at the same time, because I still can't believe that there are so much hate in this world and that there are people who could kill you just because of your skin color, your sexual orientation or your identity.
• THIS MOMENT !!! (Btw, Leah is a queen and I love her so much)

I love how Leah always stands up for Felix and how she called out Austin on his disgusting behavior.
• Here's another answer from Felix to the anonymous person who's sending him transphobic messages.

"You don't get to say who I am and who I'm not."
• Here's another stereotype that this book is talking about : the fact that trans guys are misogynistic.
• Felix's thoughts about love are exactly mine, I have the same questions and fears as him when it comes to love.
• These are exactly my thoughts.
• I feel like this is important to remind ourselves about that.
• Felix talking about the very little visibility that transgender people have, especially transgender people of color.
• This is important to be remided of that. Yes, some people can live in a bubble and never care about other people's opinions. But we have to know that not everybody has the ability of living in its own bubble.
• « It's the real, loving relationship that can be the scariest. »

When Felix's father said this about Felix's mother, I felt that with my entire being.
• Probably the most important part of the book : Felix standing up for himself and reminding himself that he matters, that he's important.
• Leah reminding Austin how privileged he is compared to Felix !!
• I almost cried reading this part : when Felix's father called Felix by his real name for the first time.
• "I wouldn't change myself for anything."

Felix being proud of who he is, knowing that he deserves love and acceptance juste like everybody.
