Good morning!
I struggle with accepting that most folks tweeting “aRrEsT tHe CoPs WhO mUrDeReD bReOnNa TaYlOr” genuinely care abt her life more than they do abt aligning with the groundswell of the moment. I’m a BW who knows better🤷🏾‍♀️
So is it this?
If you’re going to be upset about what I’m saying in this thread, save it for your group chat

I have nothing for you right now lol
Most people don’t care about Black women being victims of police brutality

I have been doing this “work” for long enough to know this to be true.

Folks simply do not care in any way that centers the humanity of Black women, full stop.
Since we can agree on the conditions and truth, let’s move on

Black women who are killed by police are only valuable as weapons in a larger battle. Whenever I see social media or celebrities jump on the “let’s meme the hell out of this person”, I always ask why
(People don’t generally care about the human beings who have been killed by police as much as they care about the fact that police keep killing and them or something they know could be next. This is true. Debate your uncle)
People certainly don’t care about BW

Look at how many Black women have been killed by police whose names never trended, who never got celebrity home going services, and who never got turned into cartoons or memes or got petitions and such

This isn’t ever about BW
What I do know is people, men especially, present “caring” for Black women as “protecting” Black women and we should all understand by now that “pRoTeCt BlAcK wOmEn” coming from them is little more than “That’s MY property so don’t touch!” when stated publicly
