I say again if you need a needle to correct your posture then you either had a very lousy drill sargent or you were an apology of s military cadet.

But then when the Army belongs to a party and not to the Nation you need that extra needle to keep your morale up. https://twitter.com/LearnsKnowledge/status/1276473410013458435
And though they might have used this needle for showing steadfastness of a Chinese soldier to further their propaganda it is actually counter to it.
What kind of soldier needs a needle to keep his head straight during drill or review or Gd of Honour?
Reflects poorly.
U have to stand in a drill for an hour 2 hour. Can't keep ur head straight fr such short duration and u expect them to fight a war?
Well, they need this needle during war too. Most of you might not know an interesting trivia about Chinese Army known as "Political commissar"
These "political commissar" are the human needle. They are there at every level. Right from section to Bn. They have more power than the CO of the Unit.
Their aim is to do political indoctrination. Report if any individual lacks party values. Finishing their career right there
Anyone having right ideology will get a fair report. Competence doesnt matter. Your dedication to party matters. Who decides this? Thr Human needle. Political commissar
The most interesting part? Party soldiers lose their morale and motivation even in middle of a battle. They cant handle one reverse in battle. Then these human needle intervenes and indoctrinates them and raise their morale.
So you see. The chinese soldiers do need the needle
