Est. ~389000 people die from flu globally each year. 1 billion cases pa. Costs staggering. That's just seasonal flu ... a virus gone endemic in the human population.
What if at a point in time we had eliminated it...

Looking at the global Covid19 situation, looks like we're losing.

A few more waves, then it becomes endemic & recurs seasonally like flu afterwards.

Imagine the death toll & costs in the next 50-100 years...

We're obsessed about here & now, Covid19 risks vs economic costs & constraints on our freedoms, to go to a beach, pub or shop etc, but consider the long term view.

Future generations will rightly ask why didn't we, in 2020, stop the virus & eliminate it when we had the chance.
