One of the hallmarks of a quality Premier League team is the way they transition into the attacking third. Most top attacking sides heavily utilise the wings, but it is how they do it that separates the best from the rest. Arsenal are some way off this
City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all transition through the midfield with line breaking 8s. Whether through passing or dribbling, they have a player capable of transitioning through the phases of play, and picking the moment to distribute wide
#AFC don't. We hit the wings too early. Our player quality gap between the wings & the centre is vast; we're too quick to spread it wide. The mid not only weakens the defence through poor cover, but limits the attack through poor distribution.
Look at Saka - everywhere he plays, we look good. Our right side was the best outlet vs City, & the left the best vs Saints. I'd love to see what would happen if he & Willock partnered Xhaka in a mid 3. Line breaking dribbling in the kids, with long range passing in Xhaka
