Why is China so hell bent on escalating the border tensions with India?

Well, because India is trying to takeover PoK.

Why does that matter? Please read on.
China's major source of income comes from exports. India forms a small chunk of their exports. They majorly export to the American and European markets.

The cheapest way to export is shipping routes. American sea routes through the Pacific are comfortably accessible to them.
But the European export routes pass through the Strait of Malacca, down through the Suez canal and into the European shores.

Now, China is planning to have conflicts with India in the future. They are pretty well of our capabilities to Naval Blockade the Strait of Malacca.
If you are China, what would you do to overcome this checkmate situation? Obviously, look for an alternative.

What if I told you, China can bypass India entirely and still make it to the Suez route?

-Here comes the CPEC project aka the One Belt One Road project.
With CPEC project they can bypass India, reach the Karachi port via PoK and export directly to the European markets.

In China, this road travels through the Xinjiang region where the local Uyghur Ms can cause a problem. So China fixes this problem by per$ecuting them.
Now the only way India can throw a spanner into the Chinese mega project, is by taking over PoK

That throws the entire planning of the Chinese into a scurry

If you are China, what would you do if you had intel that India is planning to takeover PoK? - escalate border tensions
Modi and Shah are literally playing a colossal game of geopolitics. China and it's henchmen could avert this problem by getting rid of them. They tried doing so via the Anti CAA protests, dint work. Border tension and threat of war was supposedly their last ditch move.
With this in perspective, keep calm and trust Modi and Shah.
PoJK rightly and legally belongs to India. China has no claim whatsoever over PoJK. The way to look at this situation, is that the evil Communists, want to go to war with India because India is rightly trying to take back its occupied territory
