#MustRead If the anonymous ‘sources’ are right, China n India are in for a battle, if not a war. Through the winter. A slow, incessant battle of wits n guts, if not guns.

Time to call the India China talks what they are - war through other means, given the diametrically https://twitter.com/shreyadhoundial/status/1276734258346749952
opposite accounts of their ‘talks’.

India needs an overall counter plan. Not just military. Does it have one?

In nuke speak there is a phrase I hate: escalate to de-escalate.🙄

Hope India is not just doing that now, like another operation Parakram when Indian ex PM Vajpayee
massed troops up on the India Pakistan border after India’s Parliament was attacked in Dec 2001. This is far more serious.

China has suppressed details of this standoff from going public within China to give its people a controlled narrative, although it is certain that India
did cause casualties on the Chinese side.

It is also certain the Chinese are buying time in talks to establish full control over their claims across the #LAC

N given the way this conflict has developed now, it is apparent the Chinese have gamed it. It is still not clear why.
India must play a patient yet ruthless game on its own terms to convey its seriousness.

The PM must set aside his ego n have the best input from all sources, including all political parties. India MUST evolve thinking beyond hiding in the skirt folds of a fickle powers.
India MUST show China n the world, through a mix of measures, that it is truly a de facto P6. It can hold its own. It can look after itself.

India has the world on its side. Unlike China. The Chinese must realise their big mistake - India is no pushover. Nothing gives China a
a better image in the world than having India as its stout friend.

This is not rhetorical. The choice for China MUST be made clear. India as a brutal enemy or a steadfast friend?

China’s advantage is military power. India’s is diplomatic heft. Brawn vs brains. Make it count!
